Food Is A Right
Community Solidarity helps you share free vegetarian groceries with thousands in need.
Community Solidarity believes food is a right; for all people. We also believe in compassion for humans, animals, and the earth. To put these beliefs into action we organize weekly grocery distributions called "Food Shares". These Food Shares are essentially free plant-based grocery stores that are located across Long Island & NYC.
Anyone in need of help can come to a Community Solidarity Food Share and get most, if not all, of the groceries they need for the week. We also share clothing, books, toys, school supplies, and other necessities.
Community Solidarity
Grassroots Social Change
Community Solidarity is more than a nonprofit; it’s more than a grassroots movement; Community Solidarity is a philosophy. A philosophy based on the belief that empowered compassionate communities can heal themselves and in doing so create the blueprint for greater social change. Essentially, we exist to put ourselves out of business. We don’t want to address hunger, or poverty, or homelessness; we want to eliminate those problems completely.
Our goal is to fight the social, economic and environmental oppressions that are inflicted upon our community and our planet.
With help from donors like you, in 2025 Community Solidarity provided over $30,369,496.14 of assistance, including over 11,378,284 pounds of vegetarian groceries! We shared other necessities like 118,743 items of clothing, 794,613 pounds of gardening supplies, and $692,365 of cruelty-free hygiene products... to name a few.
In 2025, every $1 donated to Community Solidarity will allow us to rescue 95.56 pounds of vegetarian groceries! That's nearly a week's worth of groceries for a family of four!
Our Mission is to build a better world.
