Community Solidarity shares free vegetarian groceries, clothing, and other necessities at locations across Long Island & NYC. We call these weekly happenings "Food Shares".

At these Food Shares, anyone in need can get most (if not all) of their weekly groceries. Each Food Share is a free supermarket where community members share instead of pay for what they need. The best part is that everyone is invited to participate! There are no prerequisites, there is no paperwork, all are welcome and everyone will be helped.

So if you need food, we'll help you and if you'd like to help share we invite you to participate - click here to signup & volunteer.

If you have vegetarian groceries, vegan prepared foods, clothing, books, toys or other items that can be of use to your neighbors, that you'd like to donate, please bring them down to any of our Food Share locations listed below. For ideas on what you could share or what is needed *click here*. Also if you'd prefer us to pick up stuff, either from your house or another convenient location, we do that as well.

All the groceries at our Food Shares are completely vegetarian and all of the prepared food we distribute is 100% vegan. We believe that Food is a Right, Not a Privilege! Especially healthy foods, and because of this belief, we try to ensure that a majority of the food at our Food Share is nutritious, organic and compassionate.

Please note. Our various weekly Food Shares are all outdoors and occur throughout the year regardless of the weather so dress appropriately. Blizzards, hurricanes, rain, and snow doesn't stop us; we'll always be there for you at our listed locations and times. We also operate on all holidays.

If you're coming with a vehicle, we ask that you observe our parking guidelines listed for each share.

Community Solidarity Food Share Locations

Everything is free at these weekly location sites

Wyandanch Food Share
Wyandanch Food Share
Every Saturday @Noon. Food Distribution @Noon.

The Wyandanch Food Share, which occurs every Saturday at noon, is our newest distribution location. Wyandanch is an area that can be called a "food desert" meaning that it's an area that lacks access to healthier nutritious foods. It's an area where fast foods, or processed foods, are much easier to attain than their healthier alternatives. This lack of nutrition increases a plethora of health problems from heart disease, to diabetes, to ADHD, and even cancer. This is why sharing free nutritious foods is sharing health, and that's paramount to our mission in Wyandanch.

Every Saturday @3pm. Food Distribution @3:45pm.

The Community Solidarity Bedford-Stuyvesant Food Share distributes outside of Von King/Tompkins Park (on the northwest corner, at Lafayette and Marcy) every Saturday afternoon at 3 pm. Along with free groceries and clothing, you can come grab a bowl of Gordon's beloved black-eyed peas and lentil soup. In the summer the Bedford-Stuyvesant Food Share almost exclusively distributes farm fresh produce grown locally and donated by CSA's across Brooklyn.

Hempstead Food Share
Hempstead Food Share
Every Sunday @2pm. Food Distribution @3pm.

The Hempstead Food Share, which happens every Sunday @ 2 pm, is located directly outside the Hempstead train station (on the north end of W Columbia St, one block east of Main St.). Every Sunday Community Solidarity shares tens of thousands of pounds of fresh organic produce and vegetarian groceries with hundreds of our fellow community members in Hempstead. The goal is to help empower the community and community members by alleviating the burdens of social and economic oppressions like poverty. We do this by sharing all, or at least a good portion, of the food a person might need for that week.

Farmingville Food Share
Farmingville Food Share
Every Thursday @7pm. Food Distribution @8pm.

The Community Solidarity Farmingville Food Share was created to help struggling families in Brookhaven Township overcome hunger and systemic racial tensions; tensions which plagued the community for nearly two decades. Our goal was to help struggling families in the area and bring people of different backgrounds together. Over time people started helping one another and Community Solidarity's Farmingville Food Share flourished into what it is today. Tens of thousands of pounds of organic produce and vegetarian groceries are shared every Thursday night with hundreds of people who join us for this very special Food Share.
