Vegan Thanksgiving Bonanza 2016

Starting, November 19th and going on through November 28th, Community Solidarity, Inc. will be organizing its largest endeavor to date; it will include parties, Food Shares, copious amounts of decadent meals, the sharing of clothing, books and the organized efforts of hundreds of community members.

This is our tenth annual Thanksgiving Bonanza! Our goal is to share a smorgasbord of vegan hot meals, groceries, winter clothing and Thanksgiving supplies with over 10,000 people in the week before, and the week after Thanksgiving, but we need your help to make this happen.

It's Back-2-School season and there are families across Long Island struggling to get their kids the school supplies they need.

Unfortunately, for many of our neighbors this can be a costly burden to overcome. Purchases of notebooks, backpacks, and sneakers add up quickly creating added stress for many in our community. People may not realize that the average American family spends nearly $600 per child on back-2-school supplies. So, with that in mind, Community Solidarity is taking action.

Our Philosophy.

Community Solidarity is more than a nonprofit; it’s more than a grassroots movement; Community Solidarity is a philosophy. A philosophy based on the belief that empowered compassionate communities can heal themselves and in doing so create the blueprint for greater social change.

Community Solidarity shares millions of pounds of food each year with tens of thousands of hungry people each year. We are able to do so in large part thanks to local supportive business owners, employees, farmers and some pretty incredible individuals.

Community Solidarity, Inc. depends on community involvement. That's why it's so important for you to get involved.

If you work at a grocery store or food establishment you probably already know that a lot of good food gets thrown out every day - in fact the amount of food that is wasted in the United States alone is enough to feed the entire world. Help us by prevent some of that waste and together we can start feeding our community today! It's very easy to share your unused food with Community Solidarity!

Community Solidarity collects and shares vegetarian groceries with thousands of people across Long Island and New York City, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Surprising to some, this massive volunteer effort is only a secondary goal for our organization. The main objective of Community Solidarity, perhaps an objective that is a little too obvious, is to build up the community.
