Community Solidarity, the nonprofit behind Long Island Food Not Bombs, desperately needs a large fuel-efficient cargo van that will allow us to expand our vegetarian hunger relief program. The vehicle we need is very expensive, so we’re asking for your help in reaching our goal. Be it by donating what you can, spreading the word, or organizing a fundraiser we need your help to feed more people.

Please go to VeganFoodRescue.com to learn more about this campaign, donate funds and help us by becoming one of our fundraisers!

The Hempstead Food Share is located directly outside the Hempstead train station (on the north end of W Columbia St, one block east of Main St.)

Every Sunday our food distribution program Long Island Food Not Bombs shares thousands of pounds of fresh organic vegetarian and vegan groceries with hundreds of our neighbors in need. The goal is to help empower the community and community members by alleviating the burdens of social/economic oppressions like poverty. We do this by sharing all, or at least a good portion, of the food a person might need for that week.

Vegan Thanksgiving Pledge to Volunteer!

On Sunday, November 22nd at 2pm Community Solidarity

It's Back-2-School season and there are families across Long Island struggling to get their kids the school supplies they need. Unfortunately, for many of our neighbors this can be a costly burden to overcome. Purchases of notebooks, backpacks, and sneakers add up quickly creating added stress for many in our community. People may not realize that the average American family spends nearly $600 per child on back-2-school supplies. So, with that in mind, Community Solidarity is taking action. How can you help? 1.

Starting, November 21st and going on through November 30th, Community Solidarity, Inc. will be organizing its largest endeavor to date; it will include parties, Food Shares, copious amounts of decadent meals, the sharing of clothing, books and the organized efforts of hundreds of community members.

This is our tenth annual Thanksgiving Bonanza! Our goal is to share a smorgishborg of vegan hotmeals, groceries, winter clothing and thanksgiving supplies with over 10,000 people in the week before, and the week after Thanksgiving, but we need you're help to make this happen.

Sharing Food:

Share food and clothing with Long Island Food Not Bombs

Long Island Food Not Bombs picks up food from restaurants, health/food stores, farmers markets, farms, community farm shares, bakeries, wholesale outlets, factories and where ever else you can think of. We can also arrange pick ups at your convenience on a weekly, bi-weekly or individual basis.

Be warned, this is a long story, but one we at Community Solidarity truly hope you’ll read through. This is a chronicle of just a single day of our mission to build community and feed the hungry. We’re sharing it to teach all of you about our community, to hear your thoughts, your critique and to stoke your engagement. If you like what you read, please donate some much-needed funds, or of more importance, your time.
